2019 RAM HEAVY DUTY – DRUGSTORE WOMEN NEED NOT APPLY
Hey cool! For once, I’m able to write about a vehicle. This is normally Carl Anthony doing the but this time, it ended up at my desk. I like trucks. These trucks are not for fooling around. The tools are there to do the job, but the bells, whistles, frills, and other things don’t matter. Here, we are talking about the Ram Heavy Duty 2019.
Posers are not required to apply
Before we discuss how great the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty tool is, let’s talk about the trend (shudder!) of trucks moving upmarket. These days, the top-of-the line trucks are as fancy as Buck Owens stage outfit. As far as I can see, the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty was not aimed at the drugstore Cowboys. The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty, even though it has a luxurious interior, is still aimed at people who have to transport heavy loads to and from work sites.
Powerful Tools
The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty is a good fit in that regard. The standard 6.4-liter Hemi engine with variable cam timing and cylinder deactivation provides 410 horsepower. This is the base engine. From there, the specs only get better.
The new 6.7-liter Cummins I-6 Turbo Diesel, for example, can produce 1,000 lb.-ft. at 1,800 revs. That is a ton. It’s not excessive, but it is a lot. You may have to tow a heavy object or load the bed with lots of things if you are starting on a steep slope. . . Rain. . . In the mud and the sand. . . You get the picture. The new Ram HD is capable of towing 35,100 lbs. When properly equipped, the new Ram HD can tow 35,100 lbs. When properly equipped, the vehicle can carry up to 7,680-lb.
This will settle the debate for you if you are a number-person.

By the Numbers
The new Cummins High Output Turbo Diesel 6.7-liter features a graphite-iron block, cast iron cylinder heads with stronger pistons and low-friction rings. It also has new exhaust valves and springs as well as new rocker arms and exhaust valves. The variable-geometry Turbocharger is mounted on a new exhaust manifold, which can deliver boost pressures of up to 33 psi. Cummins Turbo Diesel standard now has 370 horsepower at 2,800 rpm and 850 lb.-ft. torque at 1,700 rpm.
Attached to the High Output Cummins is an Aisin AS69RC electronically-controlled six-speed automatic. The 68RFE six speed automatic is upgraded for the standard Cummins, and the TorqueFlite 6.4-liter Hemi comes with an eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic that has more than 40 different shift maps.

Essential Foundations
Ram’s engineers have placed even more emphasis on strength by reworking frame to achieve the highest levels of rigidity. The frame has six cross-members and is made of over 98 percent high strength steel. It also features hydro-formed main rails and rear rails that are fully boxed. All this was done to improve durability and efficiency. The frame, powertrain and aluminum hood all use new lightweight materials that reduce the weight of the vehicle by 143 lbs.
The redesigned Ram HD has the best handling and riding characteristics of any truck ever produced. Two “Active-Tuned Mass Moduls” mounted to the frame rails, for example, detect unfavorable vibrating and take countermeasures. The Active-Level rear suspension is available. Air bags replace coil springs and include a new feature that lowers the bed to make it easier to hook up trailers. Ram claims that the additional airbags soften the feeling of a truck with heavy loads.
The ride quality was also improved with the addition of Frequency-Response Damping Shocks, progressive springs and reengineered bushings. Upgraded calipers, boosters, and master cylinders are used in the braking system to improve brake pedal feel and reduce stopping distances.

Interior & Technology Treatments
It’s a 2019 Ram HD truck, so there’s no need to be a minimalist. This refinement is further enhanced by active noise cancelation, anti-vibration systems, and acoustic glasses. These all contribute to the quietest interior for a Ram HD. Interiors are updated with new colors, textures and materials. Hand-wrapped, leather instrument panels are among them. SiriusXM, a 17-speaker Harman Kardon Harman Kardon soundsystem, and a 12-inch configurable Uconnect 4C Navigation screen complement the Uconnect NAV’s 750-watt Harman Kardon soundsystem. The center console has 12 storage configurations, with assignable switches and dedicated switches. It also features a wireless charging station and five USB ports.
The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty comes with more than 100 safety features including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and a host of other advanced technologies.

Pricing & Manufacturing
All of this makes the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty a tool that you can trust, both at home and on the way to and from work. In my case, I was towing a racecar to and from a local track. The starting MSRP can vary greatly, from $35,000 to $90,000. It depends on the trim level and options.
